State Main Street In Peabody Today!

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2011 at 12:59 pm

I’m excited that the folks from the State Main Street program will be in town today. They will be working with Bruce McMillian, AIA on the design of the storefronts for the Baker Buildings. We were fortunate to receive a grant from Kansas Main Street to pay for the service provided by the architect. While they won’t be construction documents, they will give a great visual consception of what the storefronts will look like. I will post an image as soon as I get it. Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Airplanes, WWII Battles & More

In Uncategorized on May 17, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I’m very excited that we have officially confirmed a Stearman bi-plane flyover for our parade. This is always the highlight for me. Now, weather permitting, it should be quite a show. We have also been in contact with the fabulous reenactor group that comes for the “Siege on Peabody”….nothing like a WWII battle in your downtown.

Operation Celebration Merch…

In Uncategorized on May 16, 2011 at 1:23 pm

The designs for this year’s merchandise have been approved for some time now. We already have this year’s lapel pin in our hot little hands and expect to receive the T-shirts at the end of this week. We have limited quantities of both, and last year we sold out of some items, so be sure to get yours before it’s too late!

Fast and Furious…

Things are really beginning to steam roll here in Peabody! Touched base with the WWII re-enactors for the “Siege on Peabody” during this year’s Operation Celebration festival. This is by far one of my favorite parts, and I can’t wait to watch it. Also have to give props to two new sponsors for this year’s event.

The good folks at Propane Central have joined the support group this year…we are very happy to have them!

We also want to say thanks to the folks at Peabody Care Center. Formerly Legacy Park, the facility recently changed their name and ownership, yet they continue to support their community!

Big thanks to both!

Big Thanks…

To Allegiance Communications for their sponsorship of this year’s Operation Celebration festival! Allegiance is the local cable provider for Peabody, and a fantastic supporter of us and what we do.

If you would like to sponsor this year’s event, give a shout…(620) 983-2113.

Santa Fe Park Restroom Design….

In Uncategorized on May 10, 2011 at 12:41 pm

Is now complete! We have been working on fundraising for a public restroom in Santa Fe Park for some time now. The Sleepy Creek Concert Series, which kicks off on June 26th, 2011, has been and will continue to raise funds for the improvement. There is nothing worse than needing to “do your business” and not having a place to do it. Our fundraising goal is $15,000.00. As the Carpenters said…”we’ve only just begun”! If you would like to donate to the project shoot me an email or give a shout (620) 983-2113. Check out the new design by Peabody architect Arlen Gfellar….

May 28th Right Around The Corner…

In Uncategorized on May 9, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Here we are again, less than 3 weeks away from the 4th annual Operation Celebration festival here in Peabody. Seems like yesterday we were planning the first festival. We don’t quite have it down to a science, but we are getting close. If you would like to volunteer to help out and be a part of a big thank you to veterans, give us a shout…(620) 983-2113. We are also looking for additional sponsors. We have a great group of supports from last year, but this is a really good opportunity to put your business name in front of a whole lot of people.
